This is great! You are either on the path already to creating a healthier life, or adding to it. Wherever you are give yourself a pat on the back and say “I am awesome”!.
It can be challenging sometimes with the overwhelming amount of information out there. Especially with diets and fitness related information. No need to confuse yourself.
Start simple and build on that. When you have a solid foundation, you will receive long term results.
I wanted to share with you my top 5 favorite fitness foods that I add to my regimen, that can help you also.
1. Berries (Blueberries, Raspberries, Blackberries)
They are rich in antioxidants and can protect your muscles from free radical damage… often caused by exercise. Additionally, they are low sugar which is good for your health.
PLUS they make an amazing dessert, drizzle them with raw honey…YUM! You can even add them to your shakes.
Adding healthy fats, makes you a better fat burning machine. These guys keep your body strong and contain cholesterol lowering monounsaturated fat.
They also have more potassium than a banana and are loaded with fiber.
3. Salmon (Wild Caught)
Research studies that have found… that the omega-3 fats in salmon may promote weight loss and reduce belly fat. Salmon is excellent also for your heart.
Make sure to invest in wild caught salmon, verses farm raised. Farm raised contain health risk factors that are still being studied.
4. Sweet Potatoes
These are a healthier choice then regular potatoes are are versatile.
You can make them savory or sweet depending on your mood. And then you can mash, bake or make them into homemade chips.
They contain fiber, iron, vitamin C and beta-carotene and are low in calories, and high in water content.
Does an apple a day keep the doctor away?
Apples contain quercetin, which can improve energy metabolism which increases your endurance.
They are also low in sugar and high in fiber, which is beneficial for weight loss and weight maintenance.
Please make sure to get apples organic. Some fruit you can get away without being organic, but this investment is worth it.
